Hello Logging in Preview crashes for both my characters. I get past the Grabbing Inventory, and then it crashes. I have 768Megs, ATI Radian Video Card, with these settings on: Nearby Local Lights, nothing else of notice is on.

I get as far as seeing the WA on screen then crash to desktop. Tried downloading and reinstalling, same behaviour.

GeForce2 Go, 512 MB RAM, no fancy graphics enabled. (Well, other than shiny that is ;)

Me too... I can't get in at all. I have shiny and nearby local lights enabled. It's too late (early?) for me to look up my system specs, but my graphics card is a good one, I never had any trouble before. Tried to log into preview several times tonight, each time I crash as soon as the login completes.

SL Preview crashes for me as well. It happens about one second after the Welcome Area appears on my screen. I logged in twice and crashed both times. I also sent in a crash report.

Specs: Win XP Home SP1, P4 2.66 GHz, 512 MB of RAM and Nvidia GeForce4 448 Go

Didn't get crashes for hours last night but then I started to get them after I re-enabled octree in debug (but I had it on previously and no crashes). Another crash I had after loading SL with it in the background as it loaded--next thing I knew it crashed. Couldn't see crash details so LL has all the info...

I'm getting this, too. I log in, get a fleeting glimpse of my avatar standing in the middle of a bush in the Welcome Area, and then it crashes.

Edited to add: three in a row so far. Bummer. I wanted to play with the bendy prims.

I was in earlier today no problems. Then I crashed for unknown reasons (no setting I changed), and now I get crashed every time exactly as described.

Cleared cache, rebooted, changed log-in location, all to no avail. Must have tried about ten times. :(

Edit: just tried again after being off for an hour or two, don't even get to see the grid before it crashes now.

It does appear that the Preview is using settings set higher than your main-grid setup is/was. Go into preferences from the login page and turn the settings down a bit (or to minimum). Not saying this will fix the problem in every case, but it's worth trying.

Just tried it again, turned lighting to just sun and moon, cleared cache, switched off shiny... I still crash instantly. My video card is an NVIDIA GForce FX 5200... never had any problem like this before. Is there any solution to this? Can we only see the preview by turning all settings down to the most basic levels? Sigh....

I checked my settings, and they seemed to be the same as my preferences for the main grid, with the exception of lighting. (Oh, and Ripple Water was unchecked and grayed out. :()

I cranked the settings way down anyway. It still immediately crashes.

It's nothing to do with the settings. Doesn't matter if they are up or down. I have been through periods of multiple crashes and other times when everything is fine with no relation to the settings at all.
