First impression is this is the worst update yet. FPS is 1/3rd of what I get on main grid. An no, I don't think its due to old sim machines. Sim fps is same as main grind (45 fps) but my client FPS drops from 30FPS on main grid to 11 FPS in preview. In the WA its 5FPS ! Awful.
Attempts to change settings to increase FPS have resulted in the ground turning black, and I cant get it visible again.

Yes, I bug reported it.

Awful.

[Update: Black ground fixed by turning Preferences, Graphics, Enable Vertex Shaders 'off' - de-tick it. .. Humm - this was a problem in 1.9.0 and we turned it off. Is the distribution defalt 'on'? Might be a bad choice.) Frame rate with Sun/Moon, or Nearby Local is now good (23FPS in Morris) but with either All Local * frame rate pulses down to 4 FPS and the display is jerky.]

I had a general drop down to < 1 fps, until I realized they snuck on Lighting and Vertex Shaders - upon deactivating these, I was better until I tried to fly around Miramare. I ended up completely locking up for a few seconds every few seconds as long as I moved, which I suspect is due to the octree calculations - I kept getting debug messages about the octree being huge. End result - more or less unusable in Miramare.

Try disabling occlusion via debug menu. Not all video cards support vertex shaders well so you may have to run at reduced light settings to get an acceptable framerate. To get 1.9.1 to be like 1.9, disable vertex shaders and occlusion culling (ctrl+shift+o), set light to "all local lights (SW)". Looks like old-style shadows were removed and don't think they can be gotten back without enabling "all local lights (+ shadows)".

local lighting is wierd for me.. I entered the sim of Grignano and my FPS dropped to aroudn 6 FPS. Now the only light sources there are Sun & Moon and Transparencies (the base 2 light sources) and HW local lighting degraded my performance. Turned on SW local lighting like Eep suggested and my framerate doubled. Ok odd, here I told by Milo Linden that SW lighting is the old 1.9.0 local lighting. Enter Morris and my framerate plumits to 2 till I enable HW lighting wich brought it back up to 8 - 9 FPS.

Now Grignano only had to 2 base light sources and Morris had tons of light sources. So why was HW lighting slower in Grignano and faster in Morris?

My setup is an AMD Anthlon XP Mobile 2600+ (1.9ghz) (no I'm not using a laptop, newegg sent me a laptop cpu by mistake), 1 gig DDR ram, an overclocked GeForceFX 5500 256MB AGP card running the latest NGO Optimized Drivers & profile tweaks.
