Wizardry Scoreboard Discussion

So tomorrow I'm going to start work on the Wizardry scoreboard. I'll post later about what features I envision it having, but if you have any ideas about what you think it should have, let me know here.

Here is a sneak peek at what the scoreboard will look like. The plans are to have a pot, keep track of the duel going on between the two people on the dueling pads (if there is one going on), and allow for best 2 out of 3, 3 out of 5, etc.

More on feature set later.

I would like to see the ability to wager on matches. Not just a pot for the players, but a way for third parties to place bets with each other. Just a pool bettors can pay into, on either player, with the wagers on the losing player divided up among those who wagered on the winning player, with shares weighted according to their initial bet.

Yeah, I've been thinking about that Nogard. I'm thinking that this might be a component system. In other words, I'm thinking of making 3 or 4 boards and you use the parts you want to use:

1. A scoreboard to keep track of the current match.
   
2. A betting board for third parties to wager on the match.
   
3. A "stats" board which keeps track of all-time win/loss records and rankings.
   
4. A tournament "helper" board where people sign up and match people up.

I'm liking the sound of that Keiki - that would be an excellent way to accomodate all the features desired while allowing owners to use only the ones they want.

I can't think of anything else I'd particularly want it to do at the moment, but I'll mull it over...

Cutter

The main scoreboard is coming along. I'm having a tourney tonight to test it. 7:30pm SL time, 750L in prize money.

Ok, the scoreboard with the pot is up and running. I have 3 set up:

1. HUDDLES Headquarters
   
2. On top of Club Akasha in Moth
   
3. At Cutter's island since he was considering having a tourney.

By each one are blue balls. In order for the scoreboard to work, both players must be sitting on the blue "duel" balls before the fight begins.

People can contribute to the pot at any time and it pays it out in full to the next winner. If there is a tie, the pot is not paid out.

If one player disconnects or takes off the HUD, the scoreboard will time out after 90 seconds.

It's not done yet, so don't ask to buy one yet.

The Leader Board is working now and on display at HUDDLES. Please come down and give it a try and get on the leader board. The betting board should follow shortly and I'll host another big tourney once it's done.

Made significant progress in the last week. I should have a package ready to sell within a week.

ABOUT THE WIZARDRY SCOREBOARD SYSTEM:

The Wizardry Scoreboard and Wizardry Leaderboard works with your Wizardry HUDs to turn your duels into a full fledged event. Place the two scoreboard in close proximity to the Dueling Pads. Sit on the pads, attach your Wizardry HUDs and you are ready to go.



The Wizardry Scoreboard (27 prims):
- Displays the names of the current players
- Displays their current health and Mana
- Displays icons for the last 12 spells cast by each player.
- Displays the number of wins for each player in this current set of duels.
- Has a pot that anyone can contribute to and goes to the winner of the duel.
- Has a status light to let players know that the scoreboard is ready for the next duel.
- Can be set to automatically add small amounts to each pot (off by default) from the owner.
- Reset command.



The Wizardry Leader Board (48 prims):
- Keeps track of all wins and losses at determined by the Wizardry Scoreboard. Ties are disregarded.
- Sorts by % won. If players have less than 6 matches total, they are sorted to the bottom of the list without an official win %.
- Convenient arrows to page through the players on the leader board.
- Holds up to 50 players on the leaderboard.*
- Can hold records up to 999 wins and 999 losses.**
- Reset command to clear Leader Board.
- Dump command to print out current standings (which can be saved to a notecard).
- Load command to load saved standing from a notecard.

* When the leaderboard is full, and new players duel, the leaderboard automatically removes the current bottom players to make room.
** Leaderboard was limited to 999 as the maximum for wins and losses to maximize both script memory and minimize the number of prims needed on the leaderboard.

Duelling Pads (1 prim each):

Can be set to Whisper (within 10m of the Scoreboard), Say (within 20m of the Scoreboard), and Shout (within 100m) of the Scoreboard.

Multiple Scoreboards can be set up with shouting distance, however I recommend that Scoreboards/dueling pads be set up > 110 meters to minimize lag from the large amount of information that is passed between the HUDs and scoreboard.

If updates become available for the the Scoreboard or Leaderboard, customers may trade in their old versions for new ones. Additional addons, if they become available, may cost extra.
