Still A Problem with Off Channel Chat in 1.0.4

I just purchased HUDDLES EZAnimator Deluxe v1.0.4 and I'm unable to get the off channel chat working as expected.

I'm trying to send text to a DD Headset or a Megaphone which will then repeat it using a different name, or shouted or whatever. The problem is that I think those devices are not seeing the text coming from the right place.

The funny thing is I can do a test using the dialog system to send the text and that says the text in such a way that these devices are happy. No good for long text though... here's a sample config:

[01]hello
[SHOUT:01]hello
[WHISPER:01]hello
[DIALOG]test,hello,1

When I do that with DD Headset listening to channel 1 and set to use the name "Megaphone" for the intercepted text and also with Force Prophecies loaded to display in telepathy what is happening on channels 1-20 this is what I see for each of those in turn:

[14:35] EZ Animator: Done. 4 macros loaded.
[14:35] 1-Hoshi Kiama(Hoshi Kiama)(Telepathy): hello
[14:35] 1-Hoshi Kiama(Hoshi Kiama)(Telepathy): hello
[14:35] 1-Hoshi Kiama(Hoshi Kiama)(Telepathy): hello
[14:35] Megaphone shouts: hello
[14:35] 1-Hoshi Kiama(Telepathy): hello

You'll note in the last one that worked that the telepathy message no longer is seeing the message as coming from an object but from me.

In addition, normal text I send without using a channel specification is all showing up green, like from an agent... not from me.

As an additional feature I'd suggest you also add the capability to speak using another name similar to the freebie Megaphone or the DiamondDeals Headset does.

Yes I've tested this without the Force Prophecies listening in and I've also tried sending commands to other devices that will not respond to the off channel text messages.

Ok, let me see if I can deal with how the various functions work. First these three commands:

[01]hello
[SHOUT:01]hello
[WHISPER:01]hello

In each case, it should say, shout and whisper "hello" on channel 1. This text is coming from the HUDDLE though, not directly from you, hence the green text. Green text means it's coming from an object. Most scripted devices (like the megaphone I'm guessing) are listening for text that comes directly from your avatar, not listening for text which comes from an object you own.

Also I would just use numbers like this:

[1]hello
[SHOUT:1]hello
[WHISPER:1]hello

I don't think the extra 0 should do anything wrong, but there is no need for it.

Now dialogs work differently. When you choose an option from a dialog you actually say it. Other devices should recognize the text as actually coming from your avatar and not from the HUDDLE. So dialogs should be recognizable from the megaphone script. And I think that is what you found in your tests. The problem is that dialogs are very limited--only 24 characters--so it probably doesn't work the way you want it.

But it is working as intended and it's the only way it can using LSL scripts.

I will consider adding the feature to be able to change the name that the text appears to be coming from, like you suggested. I'll have to think about the best way to do it... probably a macro command would do it.

You could possibly do it by clicking the individual prims on the HUDDLE til you find the prim that has your name on it. Change the name of that prim to something else and the text will come from that name when you use emotes or chat from a macro. IM me in SL if you want me to show you how to do that.
