It has been suggested that the content creation forums should have Stickied threads, that are FAQ's for new users pointing to threads with more information.

I have contacted the author of [post=517272]this post[/post] (Pietro Maracas) as to copying his post and turning into such a FAQ.

I have two thoughts, either the FAQ thread would be locked, and there would be a link to a discussion thread, keeping the FAQ thread clean of comments. Or the thread would be unlocked and the posts would be removed from the thread if they weren't pertinant enough (removed comments would be merged into a discussion thread on the FAQ). The goal is to keep the FAQ easy to read.

Truthfuly the forums are not a good place for an FAQ.

Maybe stickied threads that contian a link to the support wiki?

Linking to a wiki (or other easily modifiable page) is probably the simplest way. Do parts of the Support Wiki allow parts to be modified by Resident accounts? I know the Scripting one is mostly Resident-driven anyway.

I've seen forum FAQs done both of the ways you mention (on other vBulletin sites even), and though it starts out nice enough it becomes quite a mess over time. With Invision its better but in the end a Wiki is best for FAQ or other semi-static content.

I'd like to see this knowledge highlighted more prominently. The support wiki is truthfully on its way out--there'll be a new support system coming, and with the permission of the appropriate Residents, I think we'll be able to include their FAQs in there.

I agree the forums is inadequate for presenting and finding a number of things.
