Resmods redux:

If I see this thread moved from General, I will be on the phone with Linden Lab naming names.

I've kept my mouth shut about resmods to see how the program went. It's clear this is a mess. There's no apparent standards being followed, even though when this started, Jeska was very clear on the standards.

I don't want a debate on every post and why it should or should not be moved, but what I do want is simple: Resmods should have less discretion than Lindens. I see just the opposite happening - I see the definition of what is and isn't relevant in "General" being interpreted more and more loosely.

This should be in the groups > resmods forum.

It's hardly the first you've blatantly posted in the wrong forum due to your sense of self-importance and need to self-promote. In fact, it's as regular as clockwork with you. I guess you feel that your posts are always above the rules, or that in your mind you can bend the rules to accomodate your own self-serving needs legitimately.

I guess the sheer number of your posts that get moved, means you're misguided.

Why was this moved and not just censored? My thread effectively was just shut down by Moopf even though I reported *him* for the personal attack.

How is that fair resmodding?

So Hiro, hope you'll update us on what's said between you and LL as I presume you'll carry out your threat of phoning them and "naming names" if this thread got moved?

I don't think any Linden ever sees a dang thing now unless you see a resmod say, "I am putting this thread up for resmod review."

I don't think they saw a lot of stuff before, either - it went directly into the circular file cabinet. But now the resmods are their excuse for not seeing things - they figure someone else is seeing them.

And those someones have a huge amount of leeway to ignore whatever they want. Consequently, a person has to make one huge hell of a stink before anything gets done.

IF anything gets done. Which it often isn't, depending on how petted the individual breaking the TOS is. And it has always been that way. And it's obvious to everyone.

The only difference is that now, unless it has been specifically put up for review, you can't expect that any Linden will ever even know the AR's happened, since they may pay scant if any attention to the abuse reports they receive copies of, unless a resmod calls their attention to it. That's what I figure, anyway.

The resmods seem to have been trained with the sole caveat, "Use your best judgment." Which pretty much translates to, "If you think somebody is an okay guy, then disregard the AR."

I think the resmods are more lenient - or, I should say, have far less grasp of the TOS - than an actual Linden who has had something brought forcibly to their attention would be.

A lot of our resmods have absolutely no business being in the resmod business. They're there because they can code, for instance. It would be like me suggesting my accountant do social work on the side, or enter the Miss America pagaent.

The one thing the resmods do consistantly, - and for the most part well - is moving threads. I dsagree, though, that the threads about the resmod system itself belong in the forum belonging to the volunteers. That's whacked.*

Until the day comes when telling other residents to go f**k themselves, or calling them vulgar sexist slurs, etc., is considered against the TOS, while others are given warnings for nothing, then the TOS is meaningless, and the system is laughable anway, with or without resmods. Any second-grader could tell it's completely dysfunctional; only the most ardent of fanboyz (and resmod wannabe's) could conclude anything else.

The only person who has ever seemed to have any straight thinking going on about the forums at all is Robin Linden.

I just realised form this and from Hiros comments that the OP thinks that "less restrictive" is a bad thing? If so I wnat to change my vote. I think things are ever so slightly looser than before and it seems to be a much nicer calmer place than previous. In short, I think the resmod program is working out fabulously.

Maybe better poll options would havve been "less restrictive and I like it" and "less restricitve and I hate it"???

Well basically, with you it's because you're (a) extremely easy to wind-up, (b) very self-absorbed and (c) I just can't stand people who think they're more important and right than everybody else.

The people I do that with, like you, is simply because for the most part I simply do not like them - just the type of people who rub me up the wrong way. Hope that helps clear things up for you.

You'll find that with everybody else that doesn't fit into that I'm nice as pie, apologetic when I say something wrong and discuss things properly. But please, feel free to just paint me as a troll if it helps you compartmentalise things easier.

Resmods do not have the ability to censor threads, only to move or close them.
