So, the "intel" (as opposed to i810) drivert doesn't (yet?) support 32 bpp. Is there any way to convince the SecondLife client to use a 24-bit visual? Didn't it use to use 24 bits? Seems with all the "simplification" options a smaller color depth would be available... r
I think the (no longer supported) i810 driver might support 32-bit depth, but I don't think it will coexist with intel, and I rely on some functionality (like RandR 1.2) that's only available in the newer driver...

I'd ask Intel about it, but there's little hope if you're stuck on a laptop with that graphics chipset.

I think the (no longer supported) i810 driver might support 32-bit depth, but I don't think it will coexist with intel, and I rely on some functionality (like RandR 1.2) that's only available in the newer driver... 24 bit is what is displayed, there isn't any more... 8 bits for each of red, green and blue. The other 8 bits are transparency (alpha channel). This is referred to as 24 bit sometimes, and 32 bit sometimes I am not surprised there is a mix up here!
