So far I am really happy with the way the Linux client runs and it seems very stable and fast. However, one piece of odd behavior is that Alt-click doesn't seem to work to focus on an object or person. It appears that it will work - that is, the cursor changes to the + sign same as it does in the Windows client... but nothing happens.
Anyone else encountered this and found a workaround? I'm running SL in Ubuntu 8.04/Gnome.

Dunno if it's related, but if you run SL windowed (in GNOME) and the SL window doesn't have focus, alt-clicking it will bring it to foreground but won't give it focus (other than left-clicking it without modifier key). That sometimes happens to me, when I want to change my view after having read something in Firefox or after checking my mail. That behavior is inherent to the window manager and doesn't really have anything to do with SL (except I use alt-click much more in SL than in other applications, so it only happens to me with SL)

Alt-click, as described above, is a hotkey for moving windows in most Linux window managers (Gnome, KDE, Fluxbox, etc).
If you do not have focus on Second Life, this behavior will be invoked. If you do, only the left Alt key tends to be bound by default; the right one will still invoke move window.

Ahhh yes that's it, I was using the right alt key - thanks! Is there a way to change that behavior? I'm left handed and would rather use the right alt key.

We use a kludge to make gnome/kde stop eating the left-alt key. I'll make a note to look into extending this to the right-alt key too.

Hi all !
I experienced a problem with alt+left mouse. It seemed to work sometimes and sometimes not. After quite some experimenting I found that it was only slow. Keep alt+left mouse pressed, and it focuses after some time.
Cheers,

Star Confirmed here on last Linux releases. I'm experiencing this on nightly builds for sure. Not sure about the official one and the Beta/OGP one. Maybe that's related to new Camera parameters in Preferences? Did you tweak them? (I did). Do you know if a Jira issue has already been filed about this?
