Hi,

As more and more "N00B's" (myself included) are using / switching to the Linux client and wishing to compile from source, would it be possible for one you Guru's to re-write the Wiki / or jot some plain idiot proof instructions down for us minions to follow blindly ;)

Personally, whilst the Wiki is very good, I've come across several errors, and my compiling skills are sadly lacking to debug. Ideally a simple blow by blow bulleted account of the command line instruction, followed by a brief description of what the line does would be excellent.

Just my 2 L$ worth :P

Regards

Compiling tips

Yes, I spent around 3 days trying to compile it from source without success. Very frustrating.
Tried the latest SVN, the latest RC2, 1.2 and 2.0, both in x86 and x86_64 Fedora7.

In x86_64 I get the feeling that I almost get there but always get stuck in FMOD, since it wants a version that DOES NOT exist for x86_64.. and complains when trying to use the latest FMOD x86_64 from the original site.

In x86 I even got version 2.0 to compile and generate the package... but when I run secondlife nothing happens, it just drops backup to the command line with the regular exit message.

The wiki seems to be very outdated.... some stuff for 1.3 and some for 1.7... very little for 1.8.xx....

Help us help you!
