I have the proprietary ATI driver installed.

For some reason when I TP to the same spot over and over switching between Visa Home Premium and Ubuntu I get around 30fps in Vista and around 10fps in Linux.

Any ideas what could be slowing Linux down?

I got something similar in term of fps when i stay somewhere without moving or after a tp, and the only way to recover a descent fps is relog. |

A future version of SL will re-enable these features for users of really recent ATI Linux drivers (because they're much better than they were). |

I have installed Suse 10.3 and going to test on it. It already seems more responsive generally so we'll see. I look forward to the new release. |

I should be rocking when the new client comes out.

Now the only problem I have is the logon screen is very slow. I can barely type in it. Once I get logged on SL runs fine, it's just the logon screen that's a problem.

Yes, Ubuntu is VERY slow... I am using Mandriva (their packages are compiled for i586 instead of i386 with Ubuntu), and it is blazing fast. I get 15 (in crowded sims) to 60fps (in a skybox) with a good old Althlon XP 3200+ and a Nvidia 7600GT. On the same system, with Ubuntu Fiesty (and the same, Nvidia drivers), I am under 10fps ! |
