2007-11-25T17:49:36Z INFO: update_vector_performances: Vector Processor : COMPILER DEFAULT
2007-11-25T17:49:36Z INFO: update_vector_performances: Vectorized Skinning : DISABLED

It's checking to see if it can use various optimisations for CPUs with SSE, if memory serves.

Yeah, I'm not sure the checks themselves are actually doing anything yet.

This isn't anything to worry about. These particular optimizations do not function on Linux (I got them working, but they're not strictly safe OR a performance-win, so there are no urgent plans to enable these).

"We are the borked of SL Linux .. get ready to be degraded."

Here are some more "particular optimizations" not working :

- GL_extensions commonly disabled.
- Voice not working.
- Video not working.
- Stability patches by others not implemented and therefore not working or continuing to cripple the client.

Nothing has been done over a half year now concerning optimizations for the linux-version of SL .. come to think of it .. what IS urgent in development in the linux-client ? It's too pathetic for words really. There is no constructive cooperation still with the linux-community in SL. Everything is aimed to give the linux-client more instabilitly and incredibility in the hope that all users will be running the Mac or Windows version only in the end. The 'quick buck' must prevail over common sense about technology.

I don't wanna hear that we should be glad to have a linux-client at all. I wanna hear what is actually done in a certain time-perspective or schedule to improve the overall experience instead of dropping or disabling features that are obviously very easy to implement in other versions.

I am a linux-user. I am not a hacker, cracker or coder by default and guilty before trialed. Linux-users can assist in helping SL become a better experience to ALL. Stop this non-sense of degrading an OS like this on purpose.
