I can no longer attach objects from the inventory to body parts other than their default attachment positions. Everyone else has the same problem?

Not so sure this is a bug, but more a feature. You must go into edit on the object and chews a new place for it through the option wheel. Right click -> More -> Attach -> lots of places to attach, you will be asked to confirm if it is different from the original designated spot.

Any object should be attachable to to any part of the body, right? Even invisible objects. A good example is the safezone combat meter, you can now only wear it on your shoulder leaving only one shoulder free. Previously you could attach it directly through "attach to" to say the nose so you'd have both shoulders free.

Even non-mod objects should be attachable to any part of the body I'd think... that's how it always was.

Try it:

right click on object from inventory, select wear... see what it attaches to
detach it
right click on object and select attach to and attach it to a different part of the body.... won't work

Probably the point of doing this was so that people wouldn't accidentally attach things to the wrong spot. So it would always go to where the creator intended it to go. If the object can be modified then the user can feel free to do so. It is just an easier way to protect the default behavior of an object.

Well if that is the intention and thus a feature I am very unhappy with it... it leaves no freedom to attach objects where you want them and limits the amount of object you can have on you due to conflicting attachment.

Also most objects are non-mod so with the introduction of 1.12.1.* a lot less is possible

Failure to Change Attach Point.

Actually, this is a Known Bug, and they will be fixing it. Still, it wouldn`t hurt to report it again, just to make sure it stays on their radar.

The work-around is to drop the item on the ground, and use the right-click pie menu to select the new attach point. This still works.

There is a workaround to this bug mentioned in other sections of the forums.

Basically, rather than attaching the item directly from your inventory, drag it out onto the ground. Then right click on the item and attach it to the attachment point of choice from there.

Hi everyone!

I'm probably going to start locking bug report threads once someone identifies that the problem reported in the thread is not a Linux-specific problem (if it's not a Linux-specific problem, then the chances are huge that it's a known problem and that this is not a good forum for it).

Testing whether a problem happens on the Windows version is a useful task that Linux Client Alpha Testers can do to help us out, if they're capable of doing so. The less time we spend at Linden Lab trying to find reproduction recipes for reported problems and identifying them as cross-platform issues, the more time gets spent on the real Linux bugfixing and features! :)
