hi you all!

when i used my windows partition i used qavimator to make animations. but now i'm in ubuntu 6.10 i can't install it even if they say there's a linux version for us.

do you know any other open source software to make animations in ubuntu?
or do i have to go back to the windows partitions for that?

thank you very much!

If you're running a plain Ubuntu(only Gnome, no KDE), then either you must do either one of these steps:

1. Install the kubuntu-desktop package via Synaptic. It will install KDE, so you can run qavimator. But it will take quite a bit of time to download and install, so I don't recommend it.

2. Get Avimator, the non-Qt program that qavimator is based on. Go here: http://www.avimator.com

A real pity, the Linux 32 download doesn't work in that page.
Any mirrors?

Thanks!

You're right, the download for avimator isn't working. In fact, the web page says that development of avimator has been put on hold. So I'd say the only thing you could do is install the kubuntu-desktop package and run qavimator.

Looks like linux qavimator is svn-only, so make sure you have subversion installed (sudo aptitude install subversion).

Edit: Something's wrong with qavimator, it won't compile at this time. Wait for a new revision, or until i get an answer on their forums where i posted the issue (under the name Spacefiddle Oh). Oh well.

I use qavimator on my Ubuntu 6.10 machine. Look like i co0mpiled it from the subversion code sometime ago. I used revision 128, taht compiled and worked. (However i must admit I mostly use poser on Windows now for animations.
