Tofu, why do you lock threads like Why do I keep moving instead of moving them to a more appropriate forum?

I am not a big forum expert, but I agree.
It would be a nicer idea to move the thread than to lock it - locking a thread sort of gives the impression that the thread starter is an abuser or something ![]() _____________________

Thanks for the suggestions!
My first concern is that the information on this forum remain pertinent and focused for Linux Client Alpha Testers. Not being omniscient (oh no, I admitted it!), I do not usually know good places to relocate threads. Finding good places would take more time away from working on the Linux client - mining for bug report gems and chasing them to completion within the threads that meander off-topic is already a lot more time-consuming than it needs to be. Additionally, relocating a thread about known issues rather than closing it is simply going to pollute another forum with redundant information; keeping a closed thread here at least provides a searchable clue as to whether an issue is known and relevant, while preventing it from being bumped into attention. |

Great reply, Tofu.
I guess locking the thread would have looked better if some of these thoughts were stated in the locking post. It just looked a bit sudden, like an Axe Of Doom! ![]() _____________________

I'd like to explain reasons for everything just as I'd quite enjoy responding to every thread (and hanging out at every SL-LUG

Understood
![]() I was just trying to figure out why Llauren and I were so upset at the locking. I guess in principle what you said in your locking post was OK. It was just, like, unexpected... And PLEASE do not change! You are doing REALLY FANTASTIC WORK ![]() We are just used to the prior anarchy of No Moderation, I guess... ![]() ... so even our complaining is a sign of your effectiveness ![]() _____________________

Thanks, Tofu. I agree with what Angel said. All of it, except that I wasn`t upset; I was just puzzled.
