Verifying Protocol version .. Unable to connect ERROR...

Hi All,

As part of research, I am trying to install and run the alpha client on my FC5 laptop (running nvidia Geforce Go) .

I got to the stage of "Verifying Protocol Version" . The corresponding output in termonal is

After some time, the "Unable to connect" error box appears.

What could be the problem? I suspected it could be the port blockage. However, my collegue who has tried running an earlier linux version in the company managed to get SL started and running.

All advice are appreciated.

I am running Mandriva 2007.0, kernel-2.6.17, Nvidia 7800GT, nvidia driver 9631, SL alpha client 1.13.2.7. I have opened up the ports indicated as necessary for SL and even tried for UDP/TCP to no avail. I attempt to login and get:

And I get the same result. With all firewall protections off, no ports blocked, my system still cannot login. Same results as previous message indicates.
