hi.
i was bored last night so i went ahead and compiled firstlook from source. build went fine minus a couple very minor adjustments to 2 files in newview/ to get g++ to compile them, (and python not liking open with the "wbU" flags in one of the .py files)
when i run the version i compiled, everything works fine except that my menus don't have the nice look to them but instead are just grey and boxy looking. also the X for close and the - for minimize are missing, but instead are just grey squares in the upper right corner.
anyone who might have a clue what i'm missing i would love to hear it! (perhaps i'm missing some images?)

you forgot to copy in the artwork pack before you compiled the viewer. but you can still do so after compiling the source. just extract the art pack from here: http://secondlife.com/developers/opensource/downloads/2007/03/slviewer-artwork-FL-1.13.3.59558.zipand copy the artwork to the right folders. You will know where they go. just compare precompiled clients and their folders with yours. -Asriazh

no art

tried and no luck. still boxy looking menus and it seems if i extract the art before building that it doesn't get incorporated into the final packaging at all (i have to copy over the extra files from the art tarball into the package directory before running the program) i believe this was not the firstlook code but the alpha source if that is different<?> (it had no -FL- in the tarball name) i did download the firstlook sources and will try those out as soon as i can squeeze in time. i'll also have a second glance at what changes i did to get the thing to build but i'm fairly certain i did not touch anything having to do with the art. i'll keep trying until i get it to work but any & all help / tips are appreciated --edit-- tried again with firstlook same thing... i extract the art package but nothing gets integrated into the "packaged" directory i have to copy them all over into there myself... and still boxy-menus

The SLDev mailing list is definitely the best place to discuss home-made builds - https://lists.secondlife.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/sldev
