Can't say I was in for very long, and I didn't give it a thorough test; however simply extracting the archive and running the binary worked in Ubuntu Edgy, even with XGL/Beryl running. Props dudes!

Works good but not great in Dapper
It runs like an elephant on roller skates - I have a Geforce FX5200 512MB and was hoping to get more than 5 FPS :-\

I have to say... putting 512MB on a FX5200 *is* like fitting an (arthritic) elephant with (origami) rollerskates. :)

Same here:

Edgy + Nvidia + Beryl = perfectly smooth secondLife with Sound. No hacks needed.

Velvet,
Happy as pie.

Edgy + nVidia 96.25beta + aiglx + beryl = Not bad performance. But not nearly as good as windows client, obviously. Although, I'm having problems resizing in a timely fashion

It works wonderfully in Kubuntu Dapper for me! And by wonderfully, I mean on par with the Windows version. Excellent work, guys! I may now consider switching over completely to Linux!

Running:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
512 MB RAM
GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB 8xAGP
Kubuntu 6.06.1 Dapper

I have the same thing -- resizing freezes the client.

I see this too on nvidia - the nvidia driver seems to sometimes decide to switch to software rendering for a few frames for no clear reason, but should come back to life in a while. Don't know why this happens yet.

Hmmm, the client worked spiffy in Dapper but for some reason in Edgy it is giving me a dialog box stating "Window Creation Error"

Any thoughts?

I've got an ATI card. SL was working great until I upgraded to Edgy, now it is giving me this error message. In xorg.conf it is listed as:

Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Technologies, Inc. RV350 AS [Radeon 9600]"
Driver "ati"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]"
Driver "fglrx"
Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
EndSection

Nevermind, solved the issue. It didn't dawn on me that I needed to reinstall my ATI drivers, then reconfigure Xorg.conf. It works now :)

Had problems with Dapper but Edgy *PERFECT*

Well, maybe not "perfect", but a lot of problems I've had with performance and system freezes w/ SL and my ATI card have been resolved.
