The easiest way to do this is to simply edit the gridargs.dat file located within your Second Life folder (wherever you put your Second Life folder after opening the downloaded viewer in your archive manager). Add the following line to your gridargs.dat file: --multiple (Yes, those are TWO dashes in front of multiple.) Save the edited file. You will now be able to run as many instances of the SL viewer as your computer can handle. see the afk bug happening now, if i have the --multiple in there i shouldnt have a drama of it having that issue. The problem you have been having is something that used to occur a lot with the pre-1.20 viewers, but still happens occasionally. Without the --multiple flag set, the viewer creates a dummy file in ~/.secondlife/logs/ that acts as a flag indicating a viewer process is already running. When the viewer is closed down, the file is deleted. If the viewer crashes, the crash routine is supposed to create a crash flag and delete the viewer-is-running flag; however, if the crash was severe, that file may not get deleted. With --multiple set, that viewer-is-running flag is never set (the dummy file is never created). One thing to note: You indicated this tends to happen most when you're AFK. This tells me that a power-management feature may be causing issues with your viewer. The likely culprit is usually the screensaver. sometimes it crashes when afk and cant log in?
