Well ladies and gents, I have done every thing possible to get this working natively on linux, I ran 4 diffrent versions, one of which I compiled, OpenSUSE 10.3 i86_64. I have run 3 versions on Ubuntu 7.X i86, and no not 64, all but 1 of which I took the time to compile. This lets me know that this is a server side or hardware issue. The problem is, I ran windows vista on this machine two weeks ago, and Second Life had no problems what so ever with this Machine nor my network, nor my firewall settings. So this tells me it may be a linux + hardware problem if it is a hardware problem at all.

Now for what this "linux noob" thinks. They jacked up the code on the server side, its not maintaining the tokens correctly. For some reason it just doesn't want to work with my computer running linux. I have tried every workaround, every possible solution that I could come up with and to no avail. So here is a list of the problems it presents me with.

# 1. 12 out of 13 Teleports = Logout after about 30 seconds, the terminal says this:

# 2. If I walk into another region see same error as above.

# 3. Groups Rarely work, and generaly even if they do group chats do not 12 times out of 13
# 4. Land: I cannot change the media on my rented land nor the land I DJ at, this presents yet another problem...

All of these errors are the same acrossed the board, all versions of the viewer that I have tried. I even got away from the beta' ones and used 1.7.X. Nope, the software isnt the issue.

So now comes the fun part, how does one fix this. The sound isnt a huge deal, the land isnt a big problem, but not being able to teleport or go into another region without having to log out, and log into that region is not acceptable.

So I pose this question to you the Linux Guru's. What would you do next?

Well maybe this is the issue, when starting SL as usual with the terminal up, the screen loads and I get a message telling me something is wrong with the XML and changes the address. So maybe that is the issue???

I don't see how it could be linux's related.
It's a server side problem that pples actually suffered.

I needed to restart my estates to be able to move today...

That's nothing to do with linux's viewer.

Now that the rolling restarts have happend and they have been updating sims... my wine version of sl doesnt work... figures right... crashes every 5 so now im back to trying to get the bloody linux client working... i can get at best 1 or two group chats working at a time, cant tp at all. ive used 6-8 distros of the sl viewer, some ll some 3rd party, ive used diffrent distros of linux, alot f them actully. Nothing, NO one seems to have a fix, any where, and LL blows it off.. I post it here and get asked if i compiled it myself, and yes i have to no avail... Ive done every thing every one on here could tell me to do, so basicly LL whats up, i thought about being a paying customer, and I was even buying an island here this comming week, but then now i cant even tp, i have a sl client that can do nothing but barely limp by, cant tp.. ect.. kinda frustrated... i guess i have better things to do with the 1600$ any way right...

Dont know what else to do. Tried every thing and it seems at best any fix only works for an hour or two then nothing...

hmm... you could try disabling 'Custom Port Connection' in the network-tab of your preferences if activated at all ... check your router if ports 13005 and 13006 are blocked ... my guess is the server you log onto is not receiving acknowledges from your end .. and therefore quits ( time-out ) ....

no guru here ... just another L-user .. so no guarantees :)

actully, it seems to be a wide spread at&t + 2wire= sl not working for Linux or Mac. Either way its the DNS servers that are the problem, found this out when i used opendns. Two months of tweaking and i finally got it. Oh and now voice dosent bloody work, although im on hardy studio... lol
