no ambient soudsn present on FreeBSD 7.0

hi


i was using Solaris but now using FreeBSD 7.0


Only on the newer versions of secondlife i hear no ambient sounds
i do nto hear any sound whatsoever in there

My sounds works fine on my desktop

Actually it seems ok now becasue i am using an older version now
SecondLife-i686-1.21.6.100000-unofficial-audio-test

this seems to work for me fine

but if anyone knnwos why the newer version do not work on FreeBSd please help me
Could someone anyone pkease help me figure this out :)

I'm having the same problem with 64-bit Linux (openSUSE 11.1). Tofu says he's working on it, but I haven't heard anything for a while.

You're getting Linux binaries to work on FreeBSD? That's kinda interesting. I didn't know they were that close.

Yes sure on FreeBSD you get the linux libraries as an option.
and it runs secondlife just fine if you enable agp which i forgot to do the other day
no wonder i was moving so slow in there

i just was not aware of this sudden no ambient sound issue on the newer versions.

However on Solaris is a different Story.
i been using it and still getting sounds even though there is no solaris package on this site
you can find many packages to install Secondlife on Solaris via web

Solaris is comming closer to linux in a big was as well

There you will get working ambient sounds for now
avoide streaming music it may crash the browser possibly
till the next releaase is out.
