HI
I'm running Klikit Linux, a "beta" variant of Kubuntu. The "beta" is so good that it has been my exclusive distro, and I work a distro HARD, for the last 6 months, previously I ran PCLOS and Xandros.
To install SL, I downloaded the tar, opened it with ARK and clicked the file, and it went smooth as silk.
It unpacked to the desktop, made a file folder.
Inside are multiple files, but the file of interest is a "Python" file(for those new to this, imagine an "ivory colored scroll of paper" standing upright, kind of like a snake on a small base.
It has "second life" under it, in lower case.
Click it and you are in....when it says "wait"... do that, it is loading your avatar, initial cloths, etc. and you will be in the introductory area.
I've ran SL for about 6 hours now, explored most of the "introductory" stuff, and had two crashes, which I think were probably NOT caused by Klikit. In the first, the window seemed to freeze after I enlarged it, and the second time it did so, SL caught itself, and restarted, and I came back to the same place only most folks didn't have their cloths! They were complaining about a "bug" in SL.. and then it shut down again.
Other than that, everything works VERY smoothly,
Machine is a 2.2 gig AMD 64 x 2 Dual Core
nVidia GeForce 6600
1 gig of ram, total swap 588 mb.
Ubuntu 7.04 feisty KDE 3.5.6 with transparency enabled.
SL looks good!
