Has anyone tried the Nvidia beta? I just upgraded to Fedora Core 6 and added the beta driver so there's a lot of changes to my system, but all the sudden I'm running steady at about 80-120 FPS with all the advanced features on.
Just wondering if the new driver is that much better or if something else is new with FC6 that I haven't noticed yet...

I've not tried it yet, but when Dell have finished fixing my computer I'll probaby upgrade to FC6 - so it's nice to know that SL will probably still work

That's incredible! What were you getting before? If it was 20 fps (like I have), I will install it IMMEDIATELY

I was seeing around 50 in unpoplulated areas and as low as 5 in crowded ones. I did hit a really full sim last night that normally would have taken me down to like 5 and my viewer held out around 20. I can't quite nail down where the improvement came from (the driver or some other enhancement in FC6) but whatever it is, I'm not complaining

I am running FC6 on a 3GHz CPU with an NVidia 6600GT. I haven't noticed a giant change in fps...
But I was happy that I am getting the same fps as before, but now I am running under Compiz.
FC6 has been recompiled with some new GCC options which have really sped up a lot of the binaries.
The FC6 README has a lot more details.
What advanced options are you using the beta driver?
