How I fixed the ALT key conflict (dragging window rather than panning camera view in SL) on Ubuntu Fiesty 7.04 (Gnome): * Go to System menu, Preferences Sub-menu * Click on Windows * Change "Movement Key" toggle from Alt to Meta * Close Please post your ALT fixes, particularly for other Distros/Window Managers, thanks.

From: linux readme PROBLEM 5:- Using the 'Alt' key to control the camera doesn't work or just moves the Second Life window. SOLUTION:- Some window managers eat the Alt key for their own purposes; you can configure your window manager to use a different key instead (for example, the 'Windows' key!) which will allow the Alt key to function properly with mouse actions in Second Life and other applications

Here the same instructions for Windowmaker 0.92.0:
* Open WPrefs.app * Go to the "Mouse Preferences" section * In the "Mouse Grab Modifier" box, change the configuration "Mod1 (Alt)" with "Mod4 (Super)" or "Mod5 (Hyper)", depending where your X.org has configured the windows keys. * Click Save
My Sony PS2 black USB keyboard, with no "Windows" keys, but two neat rhombic keys, works flawlessly with this configuration.
