Is copy and paste broken? Can't copy and paste anymore. Not from SLclient to anywhere , can copy paste into SL client. Now using *buntu Jaunty 9.04 Only way I have found is to run second inventory on VBox, copy to a new file in windows there. save file and copy to another linux disk. Am I on my Pat Malone here?

Do you have the option 'show position of mouse pointer when Control key is pressed' enabled?, from the mouse options in Ubuntu. I also had this copy/paste issue and found that to be the cause. Or is copy/paste completely unusable, even using the 'edit' menu within the viewer?.

Thanks for responing Peace. I'm running Kubuntu and can't see that mouse option in those settings. I can copy into the viewer any way I choose but I cannot copy out anything, anyway. Tried most ways like to Klipper/Clipboard, to Knotes, to Kate, terminal. None seem to work at all. Like I said, the only way I can find to copy text/scripts out of the viewer is to run Second Inventory in VirtualBox. It must be Jaunty but I can only guess.

It's klipper causing the problem.
Uncheck "Prevent empty clipboard", and check "Separate clipboard and selection" in the klipper config.
You will still be unable to copy from SL to any KDE4 program. But you can control v into say gedit, or any other non-ked editor.

RESOLVED! Somewhat....

Thanks Johnnie, just pasted into Wine>Notepad even! Yes. None of the KDE apps will take the paste. Didn't think to try non-KDE. It's still not ideal but...we get it simplified somewhat.
Thank you from my paste mode!

The upcoming Release Candidate should feature a reworking of the copy/paste system on the Linux viewer.
# Changed: Revisit Linux clipboard code # Fixed: VWR-8436: Paste text by pressing middle mousebutton for Linux client

The 'middlemousebutton' thing was a release-notes error (the feature exists, but not in 1.23 ). Otherwise, yes, that stuff was all rewritten and you should have more luck in 1.23.
