Hi, below is the log details from xorg.conf. I've already tried changing default color depth to 32 and 24 with no luck. I'm running Mandriva 2006 official on a pc with 2 gigs of ram and 2.0 ghz. Thanks for your help. My video cards (2 of them) are EVGA Nvidia 7900 GTX with the latest IA-32 drivers from Nvidia.

Besure your nvidia GLX extensions are installed properly, it looks like that may be causing the error for you.

No gui might mean you have to update your xorg.conf file. Any error message? It is likely that your video driver has changed and is not referenced by your xorg.conf.

AFter hours of tussling with it, I've had to send a bug report to Nvidia. They told me to do this. I'll keep ya posted.

You need to be able to use console... You need to be able to use console... GUIs suck!

Go to your xorg.conf, enable the "GLX" module, check your default driver under display adapters (nvidia it needs be called), and then check your modeline configuration.

I've tried that already, with both versions of Nvidia drivers I've downloaded. I've edited the xorg.conf file by hand and the automatic way, and every time I just get the command line with no gui.

So what's in /var/log/Xorg.0.log? That should give you a clue regarding why X doesn't start.
