First, I'd like to express appreciation to those who've encouraged me to use Second Life on Linux (I haven't yet)! Drake Bacon in particular, who told me about the Linux Live CD as Baba Yamamoto blogged, which should make it a lot easier for me to get started. I've been very curious because there's a great warmth and *such* passion... this forum is very active. As such, passion needs to keep burning brightly. We know all about your concerns of recent Release Notes saying things like "* No linux client specific fixes in this version", especially on today's major release of Second Life 1.12. So, what I want to communicate is our developers have LOTS of great Linux client fixes--they haven't been merged back into the releases *yet*, and we realize also that you guys appreciate and deserve better communication (*tips hat to Zi Ree for reminding me often*). We hope to improve this, and also thank you a lot for reporting the bugs you've found. Rest assured you haven't been abandoned, and that we're listening. Work continues on the Linux client, so please keep watching for the fixes--updates will be provided as more info is available. Keep burning brightly, we'll bring you more fuel to keep the fires lit. P.S. When are SLUG meetings? I think they were on Saturdays @ noon SLT but I don't know if this has changed... please clue me in.

GREAT to see you on our Forum, Torley! And wonderful news about the fixes! The normal LUG meeting HAS moved... I have been a bit lazy about posting it under events lately It's at Maryport (182,150), Wednesdays at 12:00 pm game time. I have posted it for the 30th of August, and it will be fantastic to see you there! Can we count on you as a guest?

Still working on the next generation, but if need be I can try to knock out a Knoppix ATI version.

But still.. _when_ can we expect to see these changes? A week? A Month? A Year? I'd like to know how long I have to look forward to before the Linux client gets some of the simpler bugs fixed atleast.

I'd like to know how long I have to look forward to before the Linux client gets some of the simpler bugs fixed atleast. That is the kicker. Maybe some of the fixes can be slipped into the 1.12.0.15 release...

Oh, I wish! Even if they could slip the fix for floating text into the nest release, I'd jump for joy.

The flaoting tag thing.. Not just me

THe floating tag thing really is up there.. Thought it was only me that that one REALLY annoyed the heck out of ... Sometimes you *need* to know the users tag, so shutting them off is a really bad workaround! We can always hope..
