Have you managed to get 1.10.0.32 to run stable?

If so, what flavor Linux? what graphics hardware and driver versions? have you changed any settings?

Even if you don't know but the new client runs fine for you, please post about it here.

Set far clip to 4 in the settings.ini

I'm trying to crash myself right now, I'm interested to see if I can succeed.

Should enhance your framerate too. :-)

I succeeded in crashing at far clip 6, will update. :-)
Crashed at 5 and 4, trying at 3.

The longest I've been able to stay logged in for is 15 seconds. Ive tried turning down farclip, trees off, fog off, clouds off, particles off, low terrain detail, low AV detail, changed to GraphicsCardMemorySetting 3.

Im using Gentoo with 2.6.9-nitro4 kernel with an Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra, nvidia-kernel 1.0.8756 nvidia-glx 1.0.8756.
With the SL 1.9 client it was perfectly stable and i was getting average 40fps even in crowded areas.

Well .. Gentoo, ATI card, stayed in long enough poking around to get auto logged out after 600 seconds of inactivity.

If you want to stay in the game though, I recommend a temporary solution of finding an empty/new sim, logging in there using the -url command line option, take off all your objects that have poly's, fly way up in the air, and hang out. Chat, script, whichever.

This isn't a card problem, or a distro issue, or any specific objects for that matter. So far as I can tell, it is just a problem with poly's in general. Reducing the number of ones around you increases your chances of staying in for a while.

P.S. I crashed out once at 5000 meters w/ the Octree error. I took off some extra objects and haven't had any problems since. But, it does hopefully demonstrate that it isn't anything on the ground.

Ubuntu Dapper 6.06, GeForce 6600 (pci-e), 2GB RAM and an Athlon X2 (running 32-bit OS though), I get great framerates and full sound with no glitches under the latest WINE, emulating Windows 2003 with fully emulated OSS sound drivers.

Ubuntu Dapper 6.06 Athlon64 X2 geforce 7900GT. SL crashes with octree errors most of the time, Sometimes is able to log in for less than a minute. Frame rates unchanged from previous 1.9.x

--Added

Anyone getting missing characters? Pretty much the first letter of words and lines is missing, sometimes question marks are missing.
Object-Object Occlusion is marked in the client but must be changed in the settings.ini as it is not selectable?

Hmm seems kinda weird, I am able to hang out in certain areas and have no crashes or other problems, but other areas it crashes within a few seconds of teleporting there. It doesnt seem to have anything to do with buildings or objects but each particular sim. I can hang out in the welcome area and ParrotHead island work fine with no problems, yet i crash almost immediately when arriving to IDP island and Yadni's junkyard.

Wine's nice and happy, with all the lighting effects, ripple water, etc etc. Have sound temporarily disabled though, since the only thing working for me is ALSA and it's kinda snap-crackle-poppish. Runs well enough that I don't expect to install the latest alpha. Yet.

Quoth CTCP VERSION, I run:
Linux 2.6.15-gentoo-r7 [x86_64/2.61GHz]

And my portage build readout:
[ebuild R ] app-emulation/wine-0.9.8-r1 +X +alsa +arts +cups -debug +esd +gif +glut +jack +jpeg +lcms -ldap -nas +ncurses +opengl +oss -scanner +truetype +xml

Linux client crashes on login. I hear it's the same with Windows.

After doing the Win98-in-winecfg trick, the Windows-in-WINE setup works.

First time on with the new client, SL crashed (occlusion thingy) in less than a minute. Second time on, I was on for at least a 1/2 hour without a single problem.

I got the occasional crash (the same octree issue as everyone else), but it seems like it was triggered by moving too fast when not everything was rendered. However, I swithed to the wine version, and it runs fine (but crashes with some wierd fixme: messages that I don't have on hand ATM) but I couldn't get sound working under niether jack nor alsa. It causes SL to hang on sound initialization or just crack on my speakers. I'm running in Windows 2000 mode if it makes a difference

Disappointed

I can't run the newest Windows client in Windows, and I can't run the newest Linux client in Linux, but the newest Windows client works fine in Linux under Wine. I'm sorry to say it, but I'm kinda disappointed...

Depending oN Region
05-25-2006 07:38
I found that this is HEAVILY depending on the region. For instance I got immediately kicked at Kula Sandbox often but not olny seldom on "Mill Pond" Sim. So I guess this has todo with something that is displayed or so.

Suse 9.3, ATI Mobility Radeon X300

Hi all,
ran kinda OK out of the box with current ATI drivers. Crowded "Edge" + messy AV caused no crash for about 10 minutes.
Haven't tested extensively since it's not much fun without sound, and that good old ALT key issue + the lousy 3D performance.
New issue (for my config): fullscreen toggle does not work anymore (used to in previous version).
Best,
Snimbi
