whole box crashes -- due to disk load?

Hi!

My box can run the SL client for hours.
But sometimes it crashes (most times it repeats the sound again and again, that was heard in the last fraction of a second; sometimes the screen is black; each time i cannot use keyboard or mouse -- just the RESET button at my box helps).
I think, this happens, when the disk load is higher than usual, or when my TV cards r active.

I use a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 460 graphics card with the latest (but legacy) NIVIDIA driver (96.43.01) and debian LINUX etch with a custom kernel and an ECS K7VMM+ main board and 768MB main memory.

Another OpenGL application (Nexuiz) runs fine even though the disk load is high...

I used this command:
export LL_GL_BLACKLIST=abcdefghijklmno
and it just crashed again.

What else can I try?

Bye
Arne

the last automatic update of debian etch (especially xorg related updates) obviously fixed that problem... -Arne

Ugh. Not only a 4-series, but a 4-series MX which is way low on power. Hon, it's time to upgrade if you can.
