I'm using Ubuntu Feisty (7.04) and have HAD everything working on it including Second Life. Today I crashed and decided to try out the new version 1.18.5.3. Now its telling me that I HAVE to have 32 bit color to run SL. Now to my knowledge, Linux doesn't go above 24 bit color. What can I do to get SL to run? Why is it that 24 bit was acceptable up until this new version? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

24-bit = 32-bit as far as Linux is concerned. Your problem is most likely that your kernel or your graphics driver have upgraded recently and got dis-aligned. Every time one is upgraded, I find force-reinstalling the other fixes this (it sux, but that is proprietary drivers for ya).
