Some months back there was an active thread about the lack of cut'n'paste in the Linux alpha client, and a stop-gap solution was offered involving an external X11 app. It was a very constructive workaround, but it worked only part of the time and wasn't generally satisfactory.
That thread never got updated with a "Cut'n'paste works now!" message, but when I asked a developer in one of my groups about it recently, he replied with "Well it's working here!". Yet, it certainly doesn't work for me on my 64-bit Gentoo on Athlon 64.
Could somebody else please confirm that cut'n'paste is now working in the official Linux alpha client, on 64-bit? Or point me to any relevant update release notes and/or fixes.
Cheers,
Morg.

It works fine for me, using the stock LL release of SL, on Kubuntu x86_64. It used to work on my old 32 bit machine too, running various versions of Mandriva, and did ever since support was added about a year ago by Tofu Linden.
I can cut & paste entirely within SL, I can cut from SL and paste to other apps, and I can cut from other apps and paste in SL.

Using the "basic" CUT&PASTE of X11 (mark and middle mouse key) does not run.
But CTRL-C/CTRL-V between KDE-apps (like kedit) and SL is ok.
Gnome I did not test yet.

Gnome I did not test yet. CTRL-C/CTRL-V works also with Gnome apps. Marking and middle mouse key don't work in both Gnome and KDE.

Sorry, yes - I should have been clearer. Ctrl-C/V works for me, hightlight / middle mouse button doesn't.
