Someone can tell me if is possible to recompile Second Life on a YellowDog 5 running over a Playstation 3 ?

I did it on a friend's. Had to cadge some hack to make a framebuffer look like a 3D card to the software (it's somewhere on the net, Google around and you'll probably find it), and it ran like crap thanks to the lack of threading/optimization, but it's doable.

Why would you use Yellow Dog, though...?

because was the easier installer.... Thankyou 4 the advice!

We have to find the way for made a software based graphics acceleration, cell is full of power!

I want a native PS3 client, I know it's possible, hell there are several demos and games that actually use the havok engine on PS3. The problem with YD or any linux flavor on the PS3 is that they aren't optimised for the hardware and lack real accelirated 3d drivers.

The sl client doesn't use Havok, only the sims do. So the ability to run it on the PS3 (or not) is moot, unless LL are planning on replacing their server farm with playstations :)

Gunna try it on fedora core 5 once I get it installed on my ps3. working on that currently. I doubt I'll get it up and running though.
