hi i use ubuntu and am haveing a weard problem...... my video card is listed in lspci as being a "0000:02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5500] (rev a1)" Elphias@FurrY:~$
now SL only sees 128mb of video ram even though i told xorg.conf that there is 256mb of ram on the system card......i confirmed this by seeing an increased performance of the graphics card.....but SL still insists that there is only 128mb of vram.....i was told that there is a fix for this......if you have any questions please let me know.....i will answer them to the best of my ability SL is a great app and i really want it to use my hardware to it's fullest.....so far it has far exceeded my expectations vs the windows version....more stable much faster.....and it proves that linux can in fact be a viable gameing platfrom.....and that it has the capacity to beat the crap outta m$ XD
can someone please help me to fix this problem. thank you for your time Elphias

Hi! The Linux SL viewer doesn't do any VRAM detection at the moment - it always chooses 128MB by default. You can adjust this setting manually from the 'Adv.Graphics' tab of the preferences window. Note that you will need at least 512MB of system memory to use the 256MB option.

300MB RAM sounds like a horrible bottleneck. Especially with such a nice gfx card.
Tofu said the SL client does not detect your vRAM.. you have to set it manually.. My advice would be to check in-game performance with the different settings and see what works best!

From: Elphias Kojishi well i cannot get it past 128 as the options are blanked out..... I think this must be because of your physical RAM. None of them are blanked out on mine, and I only have a 64MB card, but 1024MB RAM
