I extracted the latest Linux SL Alpha to a subdirectory of my home directory, and ran the secondlife shell script. The below output is all I got. I noticed that it seems to be looking for files in folders that don't exist. Any ideas?

I'm running Ubuntu Breezy (upgrade from Hoary) on an Acer Aspire 3500. Gnome. X.

2006-03-01T03:36:20Z This can be because you somehow have multiple copies running, or your system incorrectly thinks a file is open. If this message persists, restart your computer and try again. If it continues to persist, you may need to completely uninstall Second Life and reinstall it.

Folders work now

Thanks! That was the problem: archive manager was stripping out empty folders, and I should have just used tar -xf on it.

I'll post a new thread about my other questions, to keep it separate.
