So, I've read all I could find on the Internet before posting about this one.
Has anyone else had trouble viewing video streams in the latest clients? I've got Gstreamer installed, correct version, all the plugins in Ubuntu/Debian's repos, the same streams play fine in my browser and Totem, but as soon as I smack the play button in SL, the client abruptly disappears and no useful errors come up.
Any recommendations would be appreciated here!
Thanks, Tierra

My client doesn't crash, but whenever I try to run videos in SL it usually doesn't play. I keep getting 'bus_callback:312: GST error: Stream contains no data.' every time I go to play a video.

Ya, I got tired of running into more and more things not working so I removed my 64bit Ubuntu install and put on a 32bit copy of Hardy Heron, updated everything, put all the Gstreamer packages from aptitude on, checked the doodad for restricted driver support and rebooted.
Guess what? Media plays.. voice works.. music plays.. I guess sometime around 2025 developers will get around to fully supporting 64bit environments after 128bit computing has been around 5-6 years. Wheee!
Everything still goes bunk when going from full screen to windowed and back, but I can live with that.

Nice trick. That might be feasible for more than SL, too, since I've run into similar issues with other opengl programs (Nvidia binary driver bug?). Now, I've run into my first issue with SL on 32bit Ubuntu. It loves to crash about 10% of the time when I go into mouselook mode. Usually when I'm getting ready to knock a friend around with my piggy gun or similar comedy weapon.
