I've pulled this release and slapped it in... and my lord, on an old 100.x release (Gentoo's not 169.17 yet) there's no off-color flash! It's finally usable!

Only problem is, some of the settings for the sky aren't all that usable, and produce black banding during configuration.

The Windlight guys were aware of the black bands bug even before release. Were you able to get rid of it by fiddling with the sky editor?

I haven't played around with it heavily.

According to the release announcement in the blog

* Sky Mesh Detail can show stripes in the sky (play with Sky Detail to fix)"

I believe simply nudging the mentioned slider fractionally off default will usually fix the banding.

That worked for me. I had Sky Detail on "high" but the lowest "high" setting. Pushing it up a few notches got rid of the bands.

Merry Holidays, everyone! :)

169 NVidia drivers
12-27-2007 02:38
By the way, the 169 version of the NVidia driver is not so good on my setup.

I have gone back to the 100 version (see sig).

I had disappearing windows including SL Windlight, Opera and Xosview under KDE with the 169 version. Under Windows, only SL Windlight vanished without a trace (same driver version). I am happy to test things, but it was like 5 minutes in SL and then *POOF*, gone, so I reverted.
