Hiya,

I've only been in SecondLife for less than a month at this point, I'm having a great time wandering round and exploring, but I do have a question.

I can take snapshots with the release candidate just fine, but is it possible to make videos using the Linux client yet? I tried it, it pops up the file chooser dialog, but nothing appears in my chosen folder. Snapshots to the same folder work fine.

If it's not yet possible natively, has anyone found a workaround to this please?

Thanks in advance.

Try installing Istanbul Desktop Session Recorder. It saves the files in .ogg, the quality is ok though could be better.

Or use VLC, works fine.

Another tool to consider...

Try gtk-recordMyDesktop. It's basically equivalent to Istanbul, but it's more desktop-agnostic since it's a nice wrapper for the CLI tool recordMyDesktop, and there's a few extra options to help optimize recording and encoding.

Thanks Antonius Misfit, just tried that myself and the quality is great and run and captures very smooth.
