Like with the REV130 SVN version, i get a horrible fluttering stutter of FPS after i opened the new search tab and closed it again with the official 1.18.5.0 RC. This goes away after a while when I keep the new search window open for about 5 minutes or so, but comes back when i close it. The only way to have no fluttering FPS is to open the new search window, wait until it calmed down, switch to another search tab and then close the window. Could this have to do with the google-perftools (namely libstacktrace and libtcmalloc)?

I was just messing around with the 1.18.5.0 RC viewer a bit more and found out the framerate flutter and drop disappears as soon as you switch off "dynamic textures" (ctrl+alt+f4).

Of course, that keyboard shortcut wont work on most Linux distros, for the same reason as this bug: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2734

I'm getting "hexigonal" shapped flickering in the sky while rotating camera. FPS seems solid. It was cool watching, abit a flickering, sunrise with WindLight.
v1.18.5.73655 in windowed mode Fedora 7 x86_64 w/nVidia 100.14.19 Intel 6700 QUAD, 4GB Ram, nVidia 8600GTS 256MB UPDATE: The trees are now UGLY as the light highlights their sprite faces. |

Like these? : ![]() ![]() I posted in the windlight thread here in the linux forum, but I'm seeing *exactly* what you've demonstrated in these screen shots. Only with the atmospheric shaders enabled, though. |

Yes, switching the atmospheric shaders off solves it for me too. I've opened a Jira issue about it - https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3169 - it would be really helpful if you could post your specs there. Edit: Just noticed from the other thread, you've got the same graphics card as me. _____________________

This crashes for me.
ATI 9600 (fglrx OpenGL 2.0.6958, ati proprietary driver 8.42.3), AMD Athlon 2800+, nForce 2, 2GB RAM. Using ALSA sound (I don't run ESD). Ubuntu 8.04 (mmmm....), kernel 2.6.22 generic (not -rt). This is with LL_GL_BASICEXT disabled. |

llrendertarget.cpp seems to be missing from the windlight source.

I'm getting flashes of full-window red every so often, even though my framerate's 17-28 fps on my main rig, on the latest Windlight viewer. Disabling the shaders doesn't fix this problem. My rig's setup is below in my sig.

With the llrendertarget.cpp now supplied, i was able to compile the 74061 windlight source. But it crashes randomly as soon as the actual SL in world screen is about to displayed, complaining about something related to "apr". Most of the time the client does start tho and the search window patch worked too, tho the patch process had to look for the right parts to patch, since lines were moved a little.

Driver Issue Maybe?

My rig's setup is below in my sig. Hi Drake, It seems there is a problem with some NVidia drivers and Windlight. The stable NVidia drivers for Linux (100.14.19) seem OK on my setup, but the latest Windows WHQL drivers do not allow Windlight to work correctly. This is only a problem with Windlight, the non-Windlight client doesn't care. On Windows I downgraded my drivers to 93.75 just for Windlight, since i am sometimes forced to be in Windows and Windlight is SO pretty ![]() Could it be a driver version issue? You didn't list your driver version so it is hard to tell... _____________________

I can test it on the laptop to see how it'll handle. _____________________

Hi Drake. This worries me a bit, since in the Windlight Jira it is mentioned that Nvidia video drivers above 95.71 (windows) have a problem with Windlight. I can confirm for Windows that this is the case, not only for Second Life but for Flyff
![]() ![]() Symptoms were not identical to yours, though: graphic options were disabled, and I could activate either Pretty Sky or Ripply Water. _____________________

Upgraded NVIDIA - driver for Linux to version 169.04 . Odd thing. Windlight-client will not work with that driver, gives an error-window on startup ( sorry .. did not capture it ) and exits. The 1.18.5.2 RC however does work , except there is a shader error when starting :

Since the newer NVidia Windows drivers also have issues in other graphical worlds, I think the problem lies with them, primarily, and not with SL, though I would suppose that SL could be bent enough to make the drivers work ![]() _____________________

Hey all,
Could you pls have a look at JIRA VWR-3531 and vote if you find it neccesary ? Thanx in advance. Update : Marked the issue as resolved. Downgrading the driver was all that was needed as indicated by Angel. _____________________

Nvidia driver
11-30-2007 11:35
It seems to be a driver problem. It affects other graphic intensive games I have, too. Only the older driver seems to work without major issues. I am not sure SL code should be rewritten if Nvidia has a bad driver

I am not sure SL code should be rewritten if Nvidia has a bad driver ![]() Downgraded Nvidia-driver to official release 100.14.19 . All options in Windlight activated and work. So your right .. no need to rewrite SL from the core up coz of Nvidia's Beta fiddlings .. dammit .. hate it when others are more right than i am .. ![]() Still ... if Nvidia keeps pushing up driver-version , SL is bound to experience more trouble from users complaining things stop working. Most ppl tend to upgrade to latest driver versions, whether it's ATI or NVidia . Like i have / do ... :/ _____________________
