No text in GTK file upload dialog

Whenever I launch the GTK file upload dialog by using one of the upload options in the file menu, there is no text in the dialog. Wherever there should be a character, there's just a small box. Also, I get the following message whenever I try to launch the dialog as well:

(<unknown>:6353): Pango-CRITICAL **: _pango_cairo_font_map_get_renderer: assertion `PANGO_IS_CAIRO_FONT_MAP (fontmap)' failed

Is anybody else having a similar problem or have any idea how to fix it?
