Ubuntu User

Ok here is my problem...I had to reinstall Linux on my computer due to some hard drive issues (I just finished repairing my big hard drive again and decided to use it instead of the little one I was useing I was filling it up to quickly) Now I have redown loaded and extracted SecondLife and when I click on the icon nothing happens....what should I do??? I had my friend help me step by step set it up lasttime so I don't know what im doing nor now how to do it myself. Some step by step help would be highly appreciated for I don't understand all these terms that ya'll are useing
