I had read T Linden's announcement of the LLMedia plugin API on the SL blogs yesterday, and I followed the link to the wiki page where we were supposed to be able to grab a binary build of the official viewer with the plugin API compiled in. Originally the link to the Linux build went to a distinctly different site than the Windows and Mac links. Following that link kept giving me a "site taking too long to respond. Could be temporarily too busy or does not exist" error page in Firefox. Today I see that the link is replaced with the equally depressing text " sorry, Linux build currently unavailable) ". Tofu(or any other Linux client developer), any technical reasons why there's no LLMedia-enabled Linux build? Is it GStreamer-related, I'm guessing?

Sort of - GStreamer and Linux support weren't written when that branch was cut. Both exist now (they work great ) but would require backporting from a radically different viewer tree. The backport may yet happen - it depends on demand, the resources to do that (mostly, err, me) are considerably overbooked.

that explains it.
in reality, the error i get is something like "all warnings treated as errors: ..." and then the compilation breaks off because of a warning. I'll post more detail when i'm on the pc that i tried to build snowglobe on.

How is it "a radically different viewer tree", then? I can imagine the changes for the LLMedia API are quite involved just for themselves, but still ...

When I log on it tells me 64-bit Linux detected: Disabling GStreamer (streaming video and music) by default; edit ./secondlife to re-enable. What do I have to edit?

What do I have to edit? /opt/secondlife/secondlife since you're using my rpm packages.
