audio stops when I switch desktops

I don't think I had this problem in Gentoo. Now that I am using Ubuntu, the audio in SL stops whenever I go to another desktop. Amarok and other audio apps don't seem to have this issue.

Is this, perhaps, some sort of thread prioritization issue that I can control?

In Preferences> Audio & Video

uncheck "Mute Audio When Window Minimized"

SL is "minimized" when off current desktop
