I reported this as a bug, but I'd like to validate it with other Linux client users.
When I go into the Preferences -> Network tab, I can click the "Use proxy" checkbox and fill in my proxy information and go through the other side tabs without a problem. The settings remain persistent... UNTIL I click "Ok".
If I set the proxy, click Ok, then go back into Preferences, the checkbox is checked, but the proxy information itself is now empty (and I can tail the logs of my proxy and verify that it is NOT being used here).
I tried editing the various proxy bits in settings.xml, but they were overwritten the next time I opened SL.
Can someone tell me what the trick is (if any) to get the proxy settings to remain persistent?
Is this a problem on all Linux client builds? Or is it something local to my specific instance?

Confirmed; proxy settings are overwritten to blanks.

This is also an issue in 1.12.2.7 and 1.12.2.9 as well

I have seen reports that this may possibly be an issue in the Windows client as well.

True, The Windows 1.12.2.9 also doesn't save the proxy settings and thusly, you cannot use a proxy to connect.
