Trippy rendering

I'm getting some strange rendering behavior....
The sky and ground do not appear. Objects not attached to my avatar appear to rez normally, though they 'look trippy' as I move. If I use the client debug menu to enable wireframe, everything seems to look correct. My avatar attachments are rezzed, and the screen properly updates as I move.

Wireframe screenshot:

After disabling wireframe to restore 'normal' rendering:

This rendering bug looks VERY familiar, as I encountered similar behavior previously on a Windows Siva-preview a long while back. I remember figuring out a workaround involving draw distance clipping, or something of that sort. (My memory isn't perfect, been a while) Who knows, maybe it's a resurrected bug.

A few bits of sysinfo:
1.4Ghz P4, 384MB ram
Freespire Linux 1.0.13 (Debian-based)
Kernel 2.6.14-gratis, X.org 6.9.0

$ fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON 9200SE DDR Generic
OpenGL version string: 1.3.1050 (X4.3.0-8.22.5)

I'll be happy to post xorg.conf, or other bulky confs/output. Let's squish this bug! ^_^

Please have a look at

Client / Rendering / Types

Check if any of those options is disabled and reenable them.

All options within Client/Rendering/Types were enabled.

Here's a new screenshot, which shows the odd rendering behavior better than what I originally posted:

The coords are visible in the screenshot, if you care to visit for reference.

Can you update your ATI driver to v8.28.8? That's the latest from:

* twitches uncontrollably *

Tried to update recently. I'd rather not relive that horror story.

Oh my gosh John. I am sorry for your troubles, but you did make me laugh.

I run ATI cards in two machines, and I've had an odd problem lately with the water disappearing and re-appearing. Same bug?

Probably not, there was another bug with (no) water on all clients:

If you do update your drivers, do not get v8.32.5 -- I had a dog of a time getting it working on my new laptop.

Give the open-source drivers a try. Radeon 9200 is fully supported, and I've had good luck with them.

Plus, for most distros, they're there and running "out of the box".
