Unable to connect to Second Life

With connecting:

"Despite our best efforts, something unexpected has gone wrong. Please check www.secondlife.com/status to see if there is a known problem with the service."

When i look at www.secondlife.com/status nothing seems to be wrong.

There were minor glitches with the grid yesterday which have been resolved.

well i have the same problem, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.. and i didnt changed anything in between

Same issue here using Debian Sid (Sidux). This started at the same time as the sim I was in crashed last night though, so it's smelling to me like a server problem. I'm about to try the Win client via Cedega when it finishes downloading... will post if anything changes.

I am not alone... for 3 days, I got the message: could not connect an so on. Yesterday i succeed to log in once, but today: impossible. I though it would be my problem, because I recently updated from Ubuntu-Dapper to Edgy, but it seems to be a problem of LL.

SL cannot be for serious educational or commerce issues, if they cannot guarantee the login... its incredible. I do not like to pay real 125 Dollars monthly and cannot enter the place for what I am paying.

I posted elsewhere (SL Linux 1.18.0.6 not working in Feisty Fox 7.04/He1en Yoshikawa) and I think it is some kind of SL Linux Client/Server interaction problem. What makes me say that?

1) I had no problem for about two months, operating under Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fox
2) The problem first appeared after the power outage in San Francisco
3) It continued to manifest after a complete reload of both Feisty Fox and SL Linux Client
4) After logging on, the bandwidth drops to zero, as read off of the thermometer thingy in the upper right corner of the SL Client - this keeps my avatar from being able to move, change clothing, fly, teleport, chat, IM, view the Map, etc.
5) If I have time to connect to an audio stream in Second Life before the bandwidth drops to zero, the music continues

I am relieved, in a way, to know that I am not alone in experiencing this problem.

Can other Linux users, both Ubuntu and users of other distros, confirm the five symptoms, listed above?

Tried and faild about 10times before I wrote this post. and directly after I wrote it bang Im in the game. lol

Same for me today (running SuSE 10.2). But now I have a slightly different message after waiting for a regional handshake "Login packet never received by login server ".

I'm not sure whether this is good or bad. I've left some diagnostic stuff in the thread "Waiting for region handshake.............." in the Technical Issues forum. There's someone else suffering from this there as well.
