Hi all,

I am runing SL 1.18 in a P3 1,2Ghz 1Gb Ram laptop with 16Mb Ati Radeon M6 LY card. Tunning the xorg.conf and DRI conf for max performance I found out big improvement forcing 16bit texels (in the DRI panel). After that success I tried to switch X to 16bit completly but then I get the unable to create window when starting the client. When I configure X with a 24bit depth the client starts flawlessly, is there any workaround to be able to run SL with a 16bit window? I dont know why it tries to create a 32bit one...

No, it truly needs a 24/32bit depth for correct functioning at this time.

Thanks Tofu,

It is a pity it cant work with 16bit depth. The glxgears (opengl) benchmark boosts FPS by 50% when working in 16bit vs 24bit depth. Being able to use the client in 16bit would be good news to those who use laptops with not very recent graphic cards (probably many people).
