There's a problem with the newest windlight: it reports as the old version and won't run. I double and triple checked and verified I am using the 74061 package. Please fix. I want to see what's been fixed, and what hasn't.
Thanks

you have to go to "/home/yourusername/.secondlife/user_settings/" and delete "settings_windlight.xml" before you can start the new version of windlight ^_^

No no no no no.. I *tried* reinstalling (4 times). No change.
Here's what I did just now: 1. Deleted "/home/<user>/.secondlife/user_settings/settings_windlight.xml" 2. Ran program. Same result. 3. Deleted .secondlife (entire folder). 4. Ran program. Same result. 5. Re-downloaded package. Re-installed from freshly downloaded package. Deleted .secondlife folder again. 6. Ran program. Same result.
It persists in reporting as the new version and refuses to log on and run, demanding an upgrade. If there's some file or other hidden where I couldn't possibly know where to find it, I would appreciate knowing about it so I can delete (or edit) it.
Tofu, could you look at this, please? It's a little hard to evaluate WindLight when it won't even run.

! Remove marker-file manually.

Adamas,
in your $homedir/.secondlife/logs there is a marker-file called Secondlife.exec_marker. Sounds like yours is corrupt. Maybe delete that and try again.
Might also be advisable to check your partition for errors.. can do it at next reboot by 'shutdown -r -F now' ( shutsdown and reboots immediatly, so be careful ). To reinstall a package you also might consider to purge the old one completely first. I do so by "apt-get remove --purge 'package_name'".

I didn't find any file named "Secondlife.exec_marker" anywhere in the .secondlife folder, but I did find out what was wrong.
I had the sl-windlight icon pointing to a file that was pointing to a test installation I was using to try to get voice (under wine) working. My mistake. I apologize for my panic. I should have remembered I did that, and to check more closely in the future.
Again, my apologies.
