From: Ipecac Qunhua Hey all,
Anyone ever build a 100% native AMD64 build for Linux? I seem to have problems building openJpeg... From what I have seen, the main problem with a native AMD64 build right now is that the source for the SL Viewer depends on a close source Audio driver that is 32-bit only. I could be mistaking, though. Hopefully, Linden Labs or someone else will develop a version with out this limitation.

Win32, Win64, WinCE, Linux, Linux64, Macintosh (os8/9/10/x86) PS2, PSP, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360,GameCube, Wiii assume fmod was the closed source audio you were referring to<?> i'd still like to know more about what exactly fmod does and if it can be replaced by something more... GPLish would be very

GPLish would be very You're referring to FMOD4, but the SL client uses FMOD3.75. And before you ask, yes, there are some serious API changes betweens those two versions, requiring quite extensive rewrites of the sound code - enough to ask oneself wether to stick with FMOD or switch to some other sound backend.

I will add my vote for a native amd64 version. I don't want to muck up my system with a 32bit version of GTK that nothing else uses.

I too would love to see a 64 bit version, though the 32 bit version seems to work OK on my setup for the most part.

Hi! As I've said before, I expect we'll do an official 64-bit client once the 32-bit version is more or less done.
