Switching desktops when SL in full screen mode

Hello,

I would like to run SL fullscreen and it does fine here. But I am running fvwm as a window manager and normally ALT+1,2 etc. would change desktops and ALT+TAB would change running programs. It seems SL takes control of all these key-combinations. Is there a way to switch to another running program while SL is running full-screen?

Thanks!

What Hello said.

Usually x clients that are fullscreen don't allow the window manager to control it _at_all. The second life client grabs the keyboard and mouse, so the window manager doesn't get to intercept keystrokes and mouse clicks that you use to minimize windows and such.

But here's a kooky idea. You _might_ be able to open an alternate X display with SL in fullscreen and switch between them. I think cut and paste between them won't work, and the drivers might freak out.

If you're feeling brave:

With x already running:
startx -- :1&

control-alt-Fkey (usually F7 anf F8 ) switches between them.

YMMV, it may eat your brains. I would be utterly shocked if the worked with the fglrx drivers.

Fvwm will probably work better with this. The "modern" window managers are too lame to deal with one user using two x sessions gracefully from what I've seen.

Good luck.
