Did you know you can hide the Second Life client GUI (Graphic User Interface, that is: all menus, windows, floaters, toolbar, buttons....) and make it reappear? This is very cool for machinima, and also gives you a different way to enjoy the Second Life environment. More movie-like, I'd say (if this makes sense in english, sorry). However, right now you can do this only on Mac or Windows, because the shortcut for doing it is CTRL - ALT - F1 and this is a well-known shortcut for Linux users - it switches to virtual terminal on all Linux distributions I know. 1. Do you know of any workaround for this? 2. How would you change on Linux the shortcut to switch to virtual terminals? (note: I'm on Ubuntu 7.10, where System-V init has been replaced with Upstart - http://upstart.ubuntu.com - this could make a difference, maybe) 3. Please read, comment and vote this issue: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2085

I already commented on this in the Jira issue, however I've been doing a little digging into how to change the keymappings for the virtual terminals. Looks like the loadkeys and dumpkeys are pretty much what we need - might be an idea to load a custom keymapping when sl starts, and change back when it exits.
Not able to play with it right now, but I'll carry on when I get home.

It would be great if that worked by Shortcut on Linux. We have running an automatted Client in a museum installation, ( http://youniverse.zkm.de/) and we urgently need some sort of kiosk mode for that. (Bored kiddies in museums are the perfect breed for proto hackerness...). As far as I found out, one can only change the keyboard shortcuts for the normal (not Debug) functions in "app_settings/keys.ini". Cheers, Torrid
