Hello everyone,

I recently installed the latest SL-client on Ubuntu 7.04. Unpacked it onto my desktop and try to run it from the directory and from a terminal. When running it from within the directory nothing happens at all.
When running it from a terminal it says :

>xxx@Linuxbak-1:~/Desktop/SL i386$ ./secondlife
>bin/do-not-directly-run-secondlife-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0: >cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
>
>*********************************************************
>This is an ALPHA release of the Second Life linux client.
>Thank you for testing!
>You can visit the Linux Client Alpha Testers forum at:
>/invalid_link.html
>Please see README-linux.txt before reporting problems.

Anyone familiar with this ?

It seems that you miss the Gtk 2 libraries. Install them and see if the problem is fixed. (In Debian the required package is "libgtk2.0-0";).

I have googled for some hours and found the solution.
It didn't run on a 64-bits system so I had to install some 32-bits drivers etc.
The viewer does start up but now the whole system will randomly freeze when playing SL
But I guess that would be another thread.
